The traditional financial world as we’ve known it in recent centuries is regulated by central banks and exchanges, complete with lots of red tape and regulations.
In the crypto world, a more efficient version is in place called Decentralised Finance (DeFi). DeFi has switched human intermediaries and trust mechanisms with blockchains and open source software. You trade directly with an interested party (peer-to-peer), enabled by smart contracts that ensure both parties are protected. That, in turn, has led to lower transaction fees, increased efficiency and greater transparency compared to the traditional financial system.
DeFi is only going to get stronger and more prevalent, become safer as more people use it, and may one day replace today’s banks with a better financial ecosystem.
